Novi Sad, March 20, 2023,
On March 20, 2023, The Center for Regionalism and the Mother Teresa organization held the first
in-person meeting of project council representatives in Hotel Fontana, Novi Sad, Serbia. The goal
of the meeting was to present and discuss the working packages of the “Further Development of
Civil Dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia” project, along with the visibility plan and preliminary
design of the project web platform.
The meeting was opened by the Executive Director of the Center for Regionalism, Mr. Aleksandar
Popov, who welcomed everyone and presented the main tasks of the project council. The main tasks
of the project council consist of determining the program orientation of the project, the framework
plan of activities for the current year and the evaluation of project results.
Following the introductory speech, the President of the Mother Teresa organization, Mr. Zef Shala,
presented the first component of the project working package titled “Supporting Joint Activities of
Youth CSOs from Kosovo and Serbia in the Area of Employment, Education, Environment and
Culture”. Mr. Shala briefly went through all of the working package activities, including the
development of the procurement plan, the public call for youth CSOs from Kosovo and Serbia
regarding joint activities in the areas of employment, education, environment and culture, the
establishment of the “youth CSO info booths” in Kosovo and Serbia, as well as the future
conference in Prishtina about youth employment problems and the joint initiative for cleaning the
River Ibar.
Afterwards, The Executive Director of the Center for Regionalism, Mr. Aleksandar Popov,
presented the details of the second component of the project “Encouraging Active Engagement for
Civil Dialogue in Multi-Ethnic Communities in Serbia and Kosovo”. On this occasion, Mr. Popov
stressed the importance of implementing an effective research of the position of youth, women and
ethnic minorities in both Kosovo and Serbia municipalities, in order to develop recommendations
for the improvement of their statuses. The recommendations would later be presented at
roundtables, during which the participants would also discuss the involvement of local institutions
and CSOs in the improvement of the position of the previously mentioned target groups.
The final segment of the meeting was focused on introducing the visibility plan and beta version of
the project web platform. The Associate for Maintaining the Project Web Platform, Mr. Dane
Pribic, stated that the website will contain different types of documents, such as existing local grant
calls, examples of youth CSO collaborations, as well as a special category on conducted project
research, realized study visits and involved participants.
The project “Further Development of Civil Dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia” is supported by
the European Commission – European Union Office in Kosovo.
