From February 2023 to August 2026, the Center for Regionalism, in cooperation with
the “Mother Teresa” association from Pristina, is implementing the project “Further
Improvement of Civil Dialogue between Serbia and Kosovo” which is supported by
the European Commission. The general goal of the project is to contribute to the
normalization of relations between Serbia and Kosovo through civil dialogue, as well
as to the building of peace, security and prosperity in the region. On this occasion,
we inform you that as part of this action, an open call for the award of “small
grants” will be announced in June 2023, hence, we invite you to follow the official
website ( https://kosseryouth.net ) and social networks of the project ( Facebook ;
Instagram ) to familiarize yourself with our activities. The open call will refer to
youth civil society organizations from the territory of Serbia and Kosovo to submit
joint initiatives in the fields of employment, education, culture and environmental
protection.
Youth civil society organizations, both in Serbia and Kosovo, do not have sustainable
funding for their initiatives, as well as sufficient capacity for civil dialogue, although
they have already shown in the past that cooperation on joint projects is possible for
them and provides them with an opportunity for development. The high
unemployment rate of women, young people and ethnic minorities from the
territory of Serbia and Kosovo, who face growing social exclusion and lack of
democratization, are just some of the problems that will be solved through
improving the position of target groups by joint cooperation in the previously
mentioned thematic areas.
The project “Further Improvement of Civil Dialogue between Serbia and Kosovo”
represents the continuation of the “Civil Dialogue”, which is a non-partisan, multi-
ethnic initiative of non-governmental organizations from Serbia and Kosovo,
launched in 2002 with the aim of reducing the consequences of the conflict in the
former Yugoslavia. After the tragic events of 1998 and 1999, which led to a political
deadlock between Serbia and Kosovo, civil society leaders joined forces to facilitate
dialogue and promote tolerance and trust, guided by a vision of a democratic and
stable Balkans. The initiative was launched by the Center for Regionalism from Novi
Sad and the Mother Teresa association from Pristina.
